I've been meaning to blog about our first trip to Tokyo. For the weekend, we planned on going with our friends Clark and Mikaela, their daughter Miley, Brandon and Ashley, and their two kids Andrew and Ava. To begin the weekend adventure Lily and I met Mikaela and Ashley and their kid's outside our appartment building. From there, we walked to the train station and rode it to the Yokosuka Chuo stop where we were supposed to meet up with the guys. They ended up being an hour late but we spent the time giving the kids snack and posing for a Japanese man with his camera who had asked if he could take a picture of our kids. This turned into like 5 minutes of phototaking lol.
It took about an hour I think on the train, and then we transferred to the underground subway. From there we walked the rest of the way to our hotel.
After dinner we went up to our hotel room. The guys brought us this delicous oreo drink in a pitcher requested by Mikaela. It was very yummy and sweet after dinner. My poor Lily was so tuckered out from the journey!
That next morning right after breakfast Lily took her first step all by herself! We thought this was the beginning....
Well, it was just a step, but it was a start! At least she is taking interest in walking:-) More pirate crawling for now!
After a nice breakfast we put on our swimsuits and headed to the pool! Lily was so cute when we put her little bikini on and headed down the hall to the elevator and pool!
We loved enjoying the pool! It was just what we needed! After a long swim we look Lily back to the room. She took a nap while Matt rested and I headed to the workout room for a while. When I came back up to the room Matt had ordered room service for lunch. I took a shower and then we started exploring the rest of the hotel.
Lily had so much fun pirate crawling around the hotel chasing after the other kids. She acts more excited about walking when she's around them. Matt and I were busy holding onto her hands and letting her run:-)
We found and mirror in the hotel, and Lily had so much fun looking at the cute baby! Check out more of these pictures on my facebook.
We met up with the other families again for dinner and tried out this Japanese restaurant in the hotel. It was good food, but the kiddos were pretty tired because we had to wait until 7 to even get a table. We had good food and good company. Yes, I did the the sushi thing AGAIN! 2 points for me!
Our last morning at the New Sanno, we had another wonderful American breakfast. Here is Lily in the Valentine's outfit Matt's parent's mailed her.
Before making the journey back to Yokosuka, we made our way through Tokyo.
We were headed to get a great view of the city but Matt had to put more yen on his PASMO (train) card.
We had to take a train through Tokyo.....
And then we transferred to another train...
Matt took this funny picture.
Lily had a "to go snack" of yogurt!
We went to the top of this Japanese government building to get a view of Tokyo!
It was amazing at how populated Tokyo is. I had heard it is the largest populated city in the world, but to see how they utilize every single piece of land was incredible. I kept looking for trees, but the only time you see one is if it's surrounding a shrine or temple. This view made me homesick for the rolling hills of the Palouse.
Before we headed home we had to get pictures in the Panda hats just for my Momma.
At the train station on the way home Lily was cracking up and kept leaning backwards to see up side down. She thought it was hilarious!
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MANY PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lily was in good spirits all the way back to Yokosuka. The weekend get away was exactly what we needed. We had some downtime at the hotel, good food, great friends and an exciting outing in the city. Next time we will see more of the city but this weekend was just perfect.
Lily even took off her shoe and decided to chew on her toe in the train. Those Japanese people must have thought she was a silly American child:-)

Thanks for sharing your Tokyo adventure. That pool was amazing! My dad used to go to Tokyo ever other month for business and he was always happy to return back to Hawaii where there was lots of green. ;)
