We are back in Japan for another adventure! Once again, two years later Lily did fabulous on the trip here. Like last time, we stayed at the Double Tree Hotel for New Years Eve making our morning before the flight quite relaxing. We had a nice breakfast at the hotel before riding the shuttle to the airport! Lily was so excited about the huge airplane and kept saying, "We're going to Japan!"
She was thrilled to have her own seat on the plane and with the opportunity to watch movies, play with the ipad and have food and snacks there was no time for sleep on the 10 hour flight!
We flew ANA, a Japanese airline this time, and the stewardesses were so good to Lily! They gave her toys, attention, and even made her an adorable card before leaving the plane.
Lily was so entertained, I was able to watch 3 movies myself (I can't remember the last time I did that!) Of course when we got to Narita in Tokyo, Lily was put in her stroller and fell right to sleep.
We got caught in horrible traffic between the airport and our appartment in Yokosuka, so we spent a good 3 hours in the shuttle. We made a grand entrance into our appartment building with our suitcases, carry on items, and a tearful toddler. Once we settled in, cranked up the heat, and the 3 of snuggled in bed by 7pm Japan time (3am Seattle time).
Of course we were wide awake at 3 am Japan time, ready for breakfast and for the day to begin!
The next few days were filled with adjusting to the time, settling in, and exploring the area around our appartment. Matt was sweet and brought home a fun Japanese Baskin and Robbins cake for my birthday. We checked out the nearest park (across the street), walked up and down the boardwalk, and took a trip to the base library for books.
And we ended our week watching the 6:30am Seahawks game on Japan TV! Go Seahawks!
Favorite Memory of the Week:
Lily is becoming quite friendly with the Japanese staff in the lobby of our appartment building. We were having trouble with our internet so one of the men came up to take a look. He was dresssed in a nice black suit with shiny black shoes. He politely took off his shoes at the door and worked with our router. When he was finished he returned to the door to leave and I heard him giggling and saying something about his shoes. I look at Lily who was sitting beside me questionably. When he left, Matt said he was looking for his shoes, but they were just moved into the other room. Then I looked at Lily and asked her what she was doing with the man's shoes. She paused..... then in a quite calm and half whispering voice, said "I was wearing them." :-)
